Nude & True's apothecary journey began many moons ago down a path that lead to countless nights consumed by extensive research and much trial and error. Today our intention is to create a skin care line that is nothing short of honesty, simplicity, luxury and affordability- the strong foundation for Nude & True's growth. Having a passion for people and the space we occupy keeps us inspired to find the highest quality, most effective and safest ingredients.

Shea Butter

Shea Butter is hailed for its protecting and emollient properties. It has high amounts of unsaponifiable matters, vitamin E and other natural active elements, and is a perfect natural moisturizing agent for the skin, particularly the face and hands. It penetrates deeply into the epidermis and leaves a smooth, satiny finish.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Carrier Oil is a very versatile carrier oil. It is excellent to form a barrier on the skin and absorbs quickly into the skin. Coconut oil can be used as a skin moisturizer, helping with dry skin. It also reduces protein loss when used in hair.

Grape seed Oil

Grapeseed oil absorbs quickly into the skin with a light, satin like finish. It also has some astringent qualities and is good for oily, acne prone skin.

Apricot Oil

Apricot Kernel Carrier Oil is good for all skin types. It is very rich and nourishing - particularly in vitamin A.

Olive Oil

Olive is an extremely versatile oil. It is a favorite on both dry and irritated skin.

Avocado Oil

Avocado Carrier Oil contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E, and Beta carotene. It is classified as a monounsaturated oil and is best suited for dry skin conditions in topical applications.

Camellia Seed Oil

A wild flower which grows in China and Japan. This natural plant oil contains anti-oxidants that help to revitalize and rejuvenate the hair and skin.

Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E plays a crucial role in protecting skin cells and membranes from environmental damage. This protection extends to preventing damage to the skin from UV rays, pollutants and the effects of aging. The d-alpha-tocopherol in Vitamin E also protects against lipid peroxidation, which helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. This particular Vitamin E oil is GMO free and gluten free.

Comfrey Leaf

Comfrey was historically used to treat a wide variety of ailments ranging from bronchial problems, broken bones, sprains, arthritis, gastric and varicose ulcers, severe burns, acne and other skin conditions. It was reputed to have bone and teeth building properties in children, and have value in treating "many female disorders". The plant contains the small organic molecule allantoin which is thought to stimulate cell growth and repair while also depressing inflammation.

Burdock root

Burdock Root contains vitamins B complex and E. In addition, it boasts trace minerals of potassium, phosphorous, chromium, cobalt, iron, magnesium, silicon, zinc and sodium. Burdock Root has been used in cosmetic products to increase circulation to the skin, helping to detoxify the epidermal tissues.

Nettle Leaf

Stinging Nettle comprised mainly of complex sugars and lectins. Nettle contains prostaglandins which have properties that support resistance to redness and irritation. Nettle leaf also contains high levels of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, and beta-carotene and high amounts of the vitamins A, C, D, and B complex.

Citric Acid

Citric Acid is derived from corn and sugar beets through natural fermentation, and is GMO free. It is an excellent anti-oxidant and exfoliant.

Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel extracts are clear, colorless botanical extracts prepared from the recently cut and partially dried, dormant twigs of the Hamamelis virginiana Linné plant. These distillates offer a variety of benefits for skin and personal care applications.

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera is well respected for its application as a moisturizing agent. It contains vitamin B complex, folic acid, vitamin C and carotene.

Candelilla Wax

Candelilla Wax is derived from the leaves of the small Candelilla shrub. It is a safe and natural product increasing the residence time of natural emollients on the skin to help provide a protective and moisture resistant environment for skin.

Sodium Bicarbonate

Sodium Bicarbonate is a white, crystalline powder that has skin soothing, water softening, effervescent, deodorizing and stimulating properties. It also draws oils and impurities from the skin, leaving it smooth and clean.

Arrowroot Powder

Arrowroot powder is a natural powdered root starch that is white in color and very lightweight. It is derived from the tropical South American plant Maranta arundinacea. The plant was given the name “Arrowroot” because it was once used to treat those injured with wounds from poisoned arrows.

Emulsifying Wax

Self Emulsifying Wax N flakes are anionic, composed of 90% Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol and 10% Sodium Cetylstearyl Sulfate derived from vegetable oils (coconut / palm kernel)  It is PEG-free and gluten-free, and is approved by Ecocert for use as an ingredient in natural and organic cosmetics.

Stearic Acid

Stearic Acid is an organic, fatty acid that is found in vegetable fats and oils. It works harmoniously with other fatty acids to nourish the skin and offer versatility in texture.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

Grapefruit Seed Extract is primarily derived from the seeds and membranes of the grapefruit. Grapefruit Seed Extract is used primarily as an antioxidant in oil serums and creams. It has become increasingly popular as a 'natural' preservative in DIY products, though it is important to understand that Grapefruit Seed Extract is not in itself a full-spectrum preservative.

Sea Salt

Sea salt is salt produced from the evaporation of sea water. It is used in cooking and cosmetis. It is also called bay salt or solar salt. Like mineral salt, production of sea salt has been dated to prehistoric times.

Sucrose

Sucrose is a common, naturally occurring carbohydrate found in many plants and plant parts
Sucrose is often extracted and refined from either cane or beet sugar. Sugar is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment into the skin. So when you apply products with sugar or sugar derivatives, they'll actually help hydrate your skin and keep moisture within. Sugar is also a natural source of glycolic acid, that penetrates the skin and breaks down the "glue" that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin. Glycolic acid is typically used to treat sun-damaged and aging skin.

Sodium Hydroxide

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), also known as lye and caustic soda is a white solid used to formulate soaps. When fat and lye are combined in proper proportions, a chemical reaction called saponification occurs. After saponification occurs no lye remains. The soaps then harden and cure for 4 weeks and a beautiful natural product remains.

Green Tea Powder

Green Tea Extract is used internationally in cosmetics, as it is a rich source of anti-oxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E.  It is said to help repair the effects of aging and environmental factors. The active constituents in Green Tea are the Catechin - Polyphenols. Green Tea catechins are potent antioxidants.
